The Tour of Lake Ellyn was introduced in the mid 70’s by Olympic cyclist and local resident John Vandevelde. John designed the natural, challenging course that circumvents the lake.
The 1.4 mile course includes eleven corners, a chicane,
a roundabout, and hills that will wear on the rider’s legs as they race multiple laps.
After 25 years the race made its return to Glen Ellyn in 2016 as the second stage of the 10-day Intelligentsia Cup p/b SRAM criterium and road race series.
